Anyone can get a taste of the seaside downtown with today’s opening of the Lockport Seafood Shack at 20 Lock St.
Owner Jon George has renamed the former AJ’s Hot Dogs and expanded the menu to include lobster, shrimp, clam and oyster take-out dishes.
George said he wanted to offer something unique to Lockport.
“I’m a seafood guy,” George said. “I lived in Boston for years.”
Chef Dennis Garver has cooked up a variety of lobster roll choices, including lobster fried in Mexican street corn breading, and a California lobster roll with lemon mayo and avocado.
George said that after lobster, his favorite is shrimp, with the restaurant offering a Cajun-tossed fried shrimp po’boy.
The restaurant will continue to serve hot dogs, hamburgers, and other traditional favorites.
The Lockport Seafood Shack will be open from Wednesday to Saturday each week from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Patrons can taste Chef Dennis Garver’s new sandwiches at the opening of the Lockport Seafood Shack at 20 Lock St. today.
